SEHRENE Consortium Convenes in Granada for Project Meeting
The SEHRENE project recently held a consortium meeting in Granada, Spain, on the 2nd and 3rd of October, bringing together all partners to assess the progress of this Horizon Europe-supported initiative. This event, central to SEHRENE’s collaborative efforts, allowed the consortium to review key developments and set strategic plans for the next phases of the project.
The meeting commenced with comprehensive presentations on the status of each work package. CEA provided an overview of WP1, followed by contributions from Zorlu on WP2, ULiege on WP3, and CEA again for WP4. TVS led the session on WP6, focusing on use case analysis, while SPI presented updates on WP7, highlighting communication and dissemination activities. The discussions offered valuable insights into the progress made so far and highlighted the innovative work being conducted across the various technical strands of SEHRENE. In the afternoon, working sessions led by ULiege on WP3 and POLIMI on WP5 modelling strategies deepened the collaboration between partners, focusing on the integration of the Carnot battery and further developments in modelling approaches.
As part of the day’s activities, consortium members had the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of Granada in the evening, experiencing the rich cultural heritage of the city. This was followed by a social dinner, offering an excellent setting to strengthen connections and foster informal collaboration between the project’s partners.
A highlight of the meeting was a visit to the Cuerva industrial park on the second day. Consortium members had the opportunity to tour a substation and observe an industrial client, Nordwik, a manufacturer equipped with photovoltaic systems, storage, and energy management solutions. This site visit provided practical context to SEHRENE’s ambitions in the area of energy storage and sustainability, showcasing real-world applications of the technologies being explored.
The consortium meeting was a crucial touchpoint for ensuring alignment and fostering continued collaboration among SEHRENE’s diverse partners. As the project progresses, the consortium remains focused on delivering breakthroughs in Electro-Thermal Energy Storage (ETES) technology, positioning SEHRENE as a significant contributor to Europe’s energy transition and climate neutrality goals.
