The kick-off meeting of the SEHRENE project – Store Electricity and Heat foR climatE Neutral Europe – took place at CEA, 24th-25th of January 2024
The SEHRENE project, funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Program, launched its mission with a dynamic kick-off meeting held at Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives (CEA) in Grenoble, France. The event agenda centered on introducing the project’s objectives and consortium, along with outlining the roadmap for the next 42 months.
Outcomes from the gathering included a clear roadmap for the project’s duration, highlighting the focus on Electro-Thermal Storage (ETES) technology. The consortium’s collaboration aims to tackle technological barriers in energy storage, particularly in utilizing Thermal Energy Storage for industrial waste heat recovery and renewable heat utilization. With expertise from both EU and non-EU partners, SEHRENE endeavors to advance Europe’s energy transition goals towards sustainability and efficiency.
